Books for Asia Event Honors Publishers and Supporters in New York

On March 29, 2012, The Asia Foundation’s Books for Asia honored its partners at The Power of a Book reception in New York. Publishers, donors, Asian government representatives, and executives from the philanthropy, education, and technology sectors gathered in The Greenhouse at Scholastic to celebrate the program’s impact on 9 million people a year. “I am eternally grateful to The Asia Foundation for taking the power of books around Asia,” said the evening’s special guest, Dr. Vartan Gregorian, president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Books for Asia also announced its brand-new technology start up fund, Access4Asia and debuted “Kabul ER: The Power of a Book,” a short Asia Foundation documentary highlighting the information crisis in Afghanistan’s public hospitals.
