Sources of Violent Conflict in Asia: The Struggle Over Identity

As part of its Asian Perspective Series, on July 12, 2011 The Asia Foundation presented a seminar on subnational conflict in South And Southeast Asia. Featuring case studies on southern Thailand and Sri Lanka, panelists highlighted ethno-nationalist conflicts in Asia and the political struggles that drive these conflicts. Featured speakers included: Thomas Parks, The Asia Foundation’s Regional Director for Conflict and Governance; Don Pathan, a Thailand based journalist; and Tyrol Ferdinands, Managing Trustee of the Initiative for Political and Conflict Transformation (INPACT).
