2023 Luce Scholar

Edward Tran is a senior at Stanford University, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a concentration in biocomputation. Simultaneously, he is undertaking his master’s degree in management science and engineering under the health systems modeling and policy track, intending to confer both degrees in June 2023. He is passionate about the intersection between health, technology, and medicine and aims to address health disparities through technology. After witnessing the prevalence of mental illness in his community, Edward developed an interest in mental health advocacy. On campus, he serves as a peer counselor at Stanford’s student-run peer counseling center and as Stanford’s director for student mental health and well-being. Edward seeks to leverage his background in community health, technology, and medicine to improve healthcare systems and the quality of care for immigrants and marginalized communities. During his free time, Edward appreciates Asian cuisine and enjoys learning how to cook and bake different Asian dishes with his mom. He also enjoys playing volleyball, playing the violin, listening to music, and teaching himself new languages on Duolingo.
