Hnin Shwe Zin Hlaing is an advocate for gender equality from Myanmar. She is committed to eradicating gender‐based violence and advancing women’s and LGBT rights. She has advocated for the law and policy reforms to prevent violence against women and decriminalize consensual same‐sex activity for more than six years. She orchestrates initiatives such as the 16 Days of Activism campaign and formulates creative strategies leveraging digital platforms to amplify voices, spread awareness, and catalyze positive change. In Myanmar’s current journey toward the restoration of democracy, her engagement encompasses the promotion of women’s meaningful participation in peace and political process and addressing conflict‐related sexual violence. She graduated from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand with a master’s degree in Gender and Development Studies in 2014.
