Lau Jamero is a climate scientist who serves as the Manila Observatory’s climate resilience coordinator. In this capacity, she works closely with local governments and civil society organizations across the Philippines to support their climate and disaster risk management and adaptation planning efforts.  

At the regional and international levels, Lau also volunteers her time at the World Climate Research Programme as academy support unit manager, is a fellow at Future Earth Coasts, and is a working group member of the Southeast Asia Science Advisory Network. She also served as a contributing author and chapter scientist with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Chang for the Sixth Assessment Report. 

Jamero holds a doctoral degree in sustainability science from the University of Tokyo. She is passionate about engaging vulnerable communities in understanding climate risks and designing possible solutions, building on existing adaptive capacities, and creating hope for the future through climate action and justice.
