The Asia Foundation’s Lotus Leadership Awards recognize outstanding individuals and organizations for their contributions towards women’s and girls’ empowerment and gender equality in Asia and the Pacific. The awards are hosted annually by the Lotus Circle, a vibrant and diverse community of philanthropists supporting The Asia Foundation in its work to strengthen economic, social, and political rights and opportunities for women and girls in Asia and the Pacific. Drawing on the knowledge and networks of its 18 country offices and local partners, the Foundation invests Lotus Circle Funds strategically to transform the lives of women, girls, and their communities.

At the frontlines for self-determination and peace in Mindanao, Philippines

A movement of Bangsamoro women led efforts to secure a lasting peace in Mindanao, Philippines. The Bangsamoro Women’s Movement continues to play a vital role in strengthening the new Bangsamoro Transition Authority, the governing body of the region, and in amplifying the collective voice of the Bangsamoro. The Asia Foundation supports the movement for transformative peace and development with indigenous women, communities, and non-Bangsamoro women in solidarity with the women of the Bangsamoro. Together, we are working for an inclusive, peaceful, and brighter future for the people of Mindanao.
