Vice President, Corporate Citizenship, Blue Shield California
In her role as vice president of Corporate Citizenship, Antoinette Mayer leads Blue Shield of California’s efforts to become an industry leader in corporate social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and corporate reputation. Under Mayer’s leadership, Blue Shield launched BlueSky, its signature youth mental health initiative in 2019. This multimillion-dollar initiative invests in best-in-class nonprofits and programs that promote emotional well-being for young people across California.
Mayer joined Blue Shield in 2013 and her Citizenship efforts have helped Blue Shield earn numerous awards, most notably being named as one of the most community-minded companies in the nation by Civic 50. She is a four-time winner of Blue Shield’s Mission & Values in Action Award, the company’s highest honor which recognizes employees and teams who champion innovation and create positive change.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, Antoinette had a successful career on Wall Street in executive compensation for over a decade before transitioning to corporate social responsibility. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Children Now, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Contra Costa County and is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship. Mayer has also volunteered abroad in the Philippines and in Africa.
Mayer lives in Lafayette, California with her husband, Alejandro, and her two young children. She enjoys hiking, traveling the world, volunteering, and spending quality time under the sun with her family and friends
