The Asia Foundation 2025 Annual Report

For more than 70 years, we have partnered with governments, communities, and a wide array of changemakers to navigate complexity and help them realize their aspirations. One of our strengths is anticipating and adapting to profound change. In 2024, we initiated a comprehensive review of our mission, programs, and operations. The internal assessment combined with major external shifts in funding in 2025 sharpened our evolution into a leaner, more operationally strong organization with an even greater focus on impact we deliver. The result is Strategy 2030, a five-year framework that clarifies the changes we strive to make across four areas of impact that reflect how change happens in the places where we work and the ways in which TAF is uniquely positioned to catalyze progress:

  • Advancing effective institutions and public policies
  • Equipping individuals and communities to shape their futures
  • Building inclusive, future-ready economies
  • Strengthening regional and global cooperation

Under these impact areas, teams and partners across more than 20 countries delivered meaningful results—demonstrating that durable progress is built by solving problems together and investing in people and institutions. Last year, our programs:

  • Strengthened public institutions and local governance, including support for Nepalese municipalities to enact and implement public health laws thatexpandedaccess to lifesaving services.
  • Advanced inclusive, future‑ready economies by training hundreds of thousands of micro and small businesses to navigate digital transformation, cybersecurity risks, and emerging technologies.
  • Expanded women’s leadership and economic participation, from supporting garment workers in Bangladesh to helping women-led enterprises launch and thrive in conflict-affected regions of the Philippines.
  • Invested in children, families, and creative ecosystems, reaching millions of young readers through locally authored storybooks and stronger reading environments.
  • Promoted peace, justice, and human security, including advancing women’s participation in peacebuilding, strengthening justice sector capacity, and supporting conflict prevention and community protection.
  • Developed the next generation of leaders  by providing emerging changemakers with leadership development opportunities, policy dialogues, and cross‑border exchanges.

These highlights represent only a portion of our work in 2025. As we move forward under Strategy 2030, we remain committed to delivering effective, efficient, and locally rooted programs that help societies navigate complexity and achieve lasting progress across Asia and the Pacific.
