Cheng-Ling Chen is an angel investor, philanthropist, writer, corporate attorney, wife, and mother. As an angel investor, Cheng-Ling focuses on women-led companies pursuing business models that bring capital and opportunity to underserved, under-noticed communities. Her investments include LightBeam, Blendoor, and Bright Funds. As a philanthropist, she supports social justice organizations such as AnnieCannons, Crescent Moon Theater Productions, Oasis for Girls, Asian Law Caucus, and The Asia Foundation. Having grown up in South America, Cheng-Ling is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, English, Spanish and conversant in Taiwanese. She is passionate about multilingual education and has served as vice-chair of the Board at Presidio Knolls School, a Mandarin immersion K-8 school, as well as on the Board of APA Family Support Services, a nonprofit that provides support services to AAPI families. Cheng-Ling believes in lifting women up so the work they do for their communities can be seen in the light. She created HERliograph.com, which profiles everyday heroines, showcasing their talents and fostering connections between women. Cheng-Ling’s corporate law practice began in California and has taken her to several parts of China, most recently Shanghai. In addition to her transactional practice, Cheng-Ling has served as a pro bono advocate for immigrant women and children under the Violence Against Women Act. Cheng-Ling is a graduate of Brown University. She holds a JD from UC Berkeley and an MFA from the University of San Francisco. She lives in California with her husband and sons.
