Erin Pham Steinhauer is The Asia Foundation’s country representative in Vietnam, based in Hanoi as of April 2026. Erin brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across the private sector and international partnerships in the United States and Asia, with deep professional and cultural ties to Vietnam. Her professional experience spans financial inclusion, market development, SME and workforce development, and regulatory engagement.
Most recently, Erin founded and led the Vietnam Society, a national institution dedicated to strengthening cultural, educational, and economic ties between Vietnam and the United States. Earlier in her career, she served as Chief Country Representative for New York Life in Vietnam, leading the company’s market entry and securing its operating license, and later as International Vice President overseeing commercial operations and strategic partnerships across East and Southeast Asia. She subsequently joined Visa Inc. as Vice President of Financial Inclusion, directing regional and global initiatives on digital finance, SME development, and economic access. She has also held leadership roles with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, MicroStrategy, and Iridium.
Born in Vietnam, Erin brings a personal connection to the country and its continued development. She speaks Vietnamese and is proficient in Japanese.
