Eun Mee Kim

Professor Eun Mee Kim is a professor emerita and former president of Ewha Womans University. Her previous academic appointments with Ewha include dean of the Graduate School, dean of the Graduate School of International Studies, and director of the Institute for Development and Human Security. She is an expert on international development cooperation and East Asian development.
In 2016, the UN Secretary-General appointed Kim to serve as one of 15 scientists to work on the Global Sustainable Development Report 2019. She previously served as president of the Korea Association of International Development and Cooperation, on the Committee for International Development Cooperation under the Prime Minister’s Office, and on policy advisory committees for the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Gender Equality and Family.
In 2025, she received the Order of Service Merit Medal (Highest Order Blue Stripes) from the Republic of Korea for her life-long service to higher education, and in 2012 a Service Merital Medal for her contribution to the Fourth High-Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan. She holds master’s and doctorate degrees in sociology from Brown University. She is a United Nations Women’s Goodwill Ambassador.
