Sumina Karki is the lead for Inclusive Governance and Sahakarya for The Asia Foundation in Nepal. Since joining the Foundation in 2014, she has overseen a wide-ranging portfolio encompassing strategic peacebuilding and dialogue, gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), governance, media, and leadership development.
In 2022, she led a team that won The Asia Foundation’s Presidential Award. She has led the drive to strengthen and better integrate inclusion in the flagship subnational governance program and in the Nepal office’s organizational governance. For the governance program, she has provided strategic guidance in designing robust systems and processes to integrate inclusion throughout the program cycle, along with designing targeted programs on inclusion, which were recognized by an independent evaluator as having outstanding design.
Apart from taking responsibility for mentoring the staff on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and GEDSI, Sumina is a certified trainer on dialogue and peacebuilding and has conducted several interactive and reflective workshops and training on the topics and has played a key role in mentoring local partner organizations and accompanying them to facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue between different levels of government. Over these years, she has effectively designed, implemented, and managed multiple programs and led research on context analysis and political economy.
