The Covid-19 pandemic continues to be the biggest challenge for individuals, the community, and the country. Timor-Leste was under its 14th State of Emergency, and Sanitary Fences were enforced when the survey was conducted; there were 1,275 active cases of Covid-19 across all 13 municipalities, including RAEOA. The research aims to understand the concerns and challenges of the Timorese people and their attitudes towards the Government during the Covid-19 period.

Between June 11 to 17, 2021, Mata Dalan Institute conducted 420 phone interviews with Timorese women and men. The same methodology for this survey mimicked the surveys conducted in May 2021. The perception that Timor-Leste is going in the right direction is slightly more positive than the previous survey, with a slight increase of 49% from 48% in the May Survey. In the June survey, although most of the respondents were aware of Covid-19 vaccines in Timor-Leste (99%), the perceptions of the safety of the Covid-19 vaccine decreased. This research has been supported by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
