ABC News Australia reported on growing fears that online scam networks are relocating from Southeast Asia to Sri Lanka and cited The Asia Foundation’s Johann Rebert and Nicola Nixon on what’s fueling the shift.

The two experts warned that scam operators are adapting to enforcement crackdowns in Cambodia and Myanmar by moving to smaller, more mobile setups in new locations. Sri Lanka’s open visa policies and strong telecommunications infrastructure, they noted, make it an increasingly attractive destination for these criminal networks.
