Addressing Challenges to Organizational Capacity: Our Commitment to Growth
While the capacities of civil society organizations vary, they usually face challenges in governance, resource mobilization, and project management, which can hinder long-term sustainability and growth. Each of these issues makes it difficult to achieve their missions and respond to demands.
How We’re Solving It
To assist organizations in assessing the critical elements for effective organizational management and identifying those areas that need strengthening or further development, the Promoting Effective, Responsive, and Inclusive Governance in Bangladesh (PERI) program initiated an Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) exercise to enable its partners to define a capacity-building improvement plan based on self-assessed needs.
As part of this process, on 15th July 2024, Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), one of the PERI program coalition partners, participated in a workshop led by the Capacity Building Service Group (CBSG), an international development consultancy firm specialized in organizational capacity assessment and organizational development.
The OCA workshop focuses on seven key areas:
- Governance
- Administration
- Human Resources
- Financial Management
- Organizational Management
- Program Management
- Project Performance Management
Making an Impact
Following the self-assessment workshops, the partners receive a preliminary report from CBSG highlighting key insights and a follow-up action plan to strengthen internal systems and capacities. Through this collaborative approach, we’re promoting staff development, good governance, and effective partnerships. By fostering transparency, collaboration, and guided action plans, the PERI Program is building a foundation for long-term sustainability. Through this ongoing commitment, we are ensuring our partners are well-equipped to succeed today and in the future.
