Asia Foundation Appoints Robin Bush as Country Representative in Malaysia
The Asia Foundation announces the appointment of Robin Bush as country representative in Malaysia. She will oversee the programs and operations for the Malaysia office to strengthen entrepreneurship and international competitiveness, improve security in vulnerable regions, and engage young Malaysians to bolster and adapt their digital skills to the changing economy.
Bush returns to The Asia Foundation after serving as country representative, deputy country representative, and regional director for the Islam and Development program in Indonesia from 1998 to 2011. From 2014 to 2018, she held several positions for RTI International in Jakarta, most notably as the director of their Asia Regional office where she built strong networks with government, university and private sector partners. She also played a pivotal role in establishing a strategic foundation and network for RTI’s office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In addition to her 20-year long career as a development practitioner, Bush was a senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore’s Asia Research Institute and adjunct faculty at the Singapore Management University where she designed and taught courses in the School of Social Sciences. She has also authored and co-edited several books and articles including Nahdlatul Ulama and the Struggle for Power in Islam and Politics in Indonesia and Religion and the Politics of Development: Critical Perspectives on Asia.
