She Can: The Asia Foundation Launches Empowerment Program for Women in West Kalimantan With the DBS Foundation

In partnership with the DBS Foundation, The Asia Foundation has launched She Can – Accelerating Financial Inclusion for Marginalized Women. The collaboration will support women in West Kalimantan by providing skills training, financial literacy, and resources to improve their livelihoods and build sustainable futures.
West Kalimantan faces significant social and economic disparities, with many women, especially within rural areas and indigenous communities, lacking access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. She Can aims to break the poverty and lack of opportunity cycle, offering these women the tools to manage their finances, start and sustain businesses, and contribute to their local economy.
“DBS aspires to be the ‘Best Bank for a Better World,’ reflecting our commitment to not only focus on customers but also contribute and make an impact on the business, environment, and communities in which we operate. Guided by Bank DBS Indonesia’s third sustainability pillar, Impact Beyond Banking, we aim to advance the sustainability agenda and create a meaningful impact for a better future for Indonesia’s generation,” said President Director of PT Bank DBS Indonesia Lim Chu Chong.
The initiative reflects the shared commitment by The Asia Foundation and DBS Foundation to foster social impact beyond borders and generations, creating lasting change where women are active members of their communities. The program provides access to education and financial resources, and fosters a sense of empowerment and the prospect of new opportunities.
“We are thrilled to partner with DBS Foundation on the She Can program,” said Hana Satriyo, country representative for The Asia Foundation in Indonesia. “This initiative embodies our mission to support women’s economic potential and create pathways for leadership. With DBS Foundation’s support, we’re investing in women’s skills and aspirations—transforming local communities and inspiring positive change through the region.”
