The Asia Foundation’s Covid-19 Information Portal Equips Local Government in the Philippines
The Asia Foundation Philippines launched the LGU vs. COVID PH information portal to empower provinces, cities, and municipalities with access to verified information and tools in the country’s battle against Covid-19. In the Philippines, local government units (more commonly known as LGUs) are vital in mitigating community risks during the health crisis.
The challenges created by the Covid-19 global health crisis are disproportionally impacting communities The Asia Foundation serves. During these difficult times, accurate and timely information and resources are critical tools to keep communities healthy and safe.
The portal was first created by Golda and Caryl Benjamin as a Google Site after the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon. The site is now expanded with the support of The Asia Foundation program to further increase its reach and impact.
The portal features national issuances, legal templates, resources for vulnerable populations, health guidance, support for frontline workers, and information on medical facilities, transportation, and other critical resources. Providing both the latest announcements and updates regarding Covid-19 and promoting best practices and innovations are ready in place, LGU vs. COVID PH is a central information hub for all crucial Covid-19 related information.
The portal is accepting submissions for additional content and tools to be uploaded in future updates, and representatives of local government units can send requests for additional information here.
