A Visit to The Gender Lab in Mumbai

Watch a new film on Asia Foundation partner The Gender Lab, an India based organization working to change gender attitudes. Gender Lab co-founder Akshat Singhal discusses empowering adolescents to question existing gender narratives and engaging boys to challenge fixed notions of masculinity. The boys’ and girls’ collective outreach reached over 10,000 people in the community, with many thousands more reached through the reverberating influence of this work and their conversation. Asia Foundation experts Jane Sloane, Diya Nag, and Binayak Basnyat spend time with The Gender Lab and their students collaborating on ways to scale up and replicate the program in other countries. In 2020 The Gender Lab was selected to receive The Asia Foundation’s Lotus Leadership Award for their landmark work.
