Let’s Read and BRAC University to make reading more fun for children

Last week, Let’s Read Bangladesh and BRAC University hosted “Translating Stories for Young Minds,” a workshop that inspired students to make reading more accessible for children. The event combined hands-on training, collaborative creativity, and a focus on cultural sensitivity to teach participants how to adapt children’s stories for diverse audiences.

Students explored the Let’s Read platform and learned practical translation techniques. From simplifying language for young readers to preserving cultural authenticity, participants worked in teams to create meaningful, engaging stories. The event was a testament to the power of teamwork, creativity, and the importance of making books relatable to children from all walks of life.

How this partnership helped:

  • Empowering Future Leaders: Engaging students in such initiatives nurtures their potential to contribute to global literacy efforts.
  • Promoting Multilingual Literacy: Localized translations ensure children access books that resonate with their lives and experiences. Also, it exposes the youth translators of Let’s Read to stories of different parts and ethnicities.
  • Inspiring Social Responsibility: Students leave the program with practical skills and a drive to give back to their communities.

This partnership goes beyond a single event. It’s about mobilizing youth to create an enabling environment for literacy and ensuring every child has the chance to fall in love with reading. Together, we’re shaping a brighter future—one story at a time.
