Handbook on Victim Assistance

DOWNLOAD

This handbook is for those who directly interact with and provide services to victim-survivors of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence, including first responders and those providing counseling and legal aid services. The handbook was compiled for Women in Need (WIN) with The Asia Foundation’s technical support. It was developed through a consultative process with service providers from WIN offices in all six districts with the aim of further strengthening service providers to deliver more efficient and victim-centered services to victims of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. The handbook consolidates WIN’s extensive experience and briefly discusses the overall context of violence against women in Sri Lanka while practically guiding the reader through the values and principles needed for a victim-centric approach to service delivery. This handbook is also available in Sinhala and Tamil languages.
