This report consists of brief notes for legal professionals including judicial officers, lawyers, prosecutors, and legal aid providers as well as aspiring legal professionals and law students. Highlighting the need for gender-sensitive legal practitioners, the report presents findings documented through the exploration of formal justice sector responses and practices when dealing with cases of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence. The report provides a realistic picture of how victim-survivors of such cases are treated within the formal justice sector in Sri Lanka and provides helpful suggestions for legal practitioners and those with the authority and ability to make a difference in the justice process, to renew public faith in the justice process and thereby, ultimately influence positive change in the justice process.
